We created NeighborLight because we wanted an easier way to meet and communicate with our neighbors. Social networks like Facebook and Twitter are great for sharing with the contacts and friends you already have, but aren’t as helpful for reaching the folks next door.

We developed NeighborLight with the following assumptions:

• A strong neighborhood community positively impacts the lives of its residents.
• People have things they want to say and share with their neighbors.
• People may not know many of their neighbors, or only know them well enough to say "hi," but they want an easy way to get to know them better.
• Neighbors may have many common connections they don’t realize. (job types, children, lifestyles, hobbies)
